What You Can Do To Help Us STOP NIAGARA

Take our NEW water survey!

NIAGARA has tried FOUR (4) times to pillage our aquifer

On February 8th, the Village of Los Lunas voted to APPROVE Niagara’s request

Niagara are bullies fighting US for OUR WATER in a show of blatant disregard for ethical and environmental considerations, and the Village of Los Lunas is complicit. Niagara threatens the integrity of our aquifer and that poses a significant risk to the local ecosystem and community. It is imperative that we take a firm stance against such exploitative actions to ensure an equitable water future for all. It is time to, once and for all, say:

NIAGARA BOTTLING COMPANY

*LIES about how much water they are taking

*STEALS and sues small towns when they don’t get their way

*and they DON’T even COMPLY with their own contract by overusing nearly EVERY month since they opened

Mayor Charles Griego BANNED public comment at the February 8th meeting and REFUSED to hear the outcries of the community to DENY Niagara’s request!
Councilman Christopher Ortiz put forth a motion to approve Niagara’s request, albeit amended to 600 acre-feet instead of the 785 they were asking this time, which is still MORE THAN DOUBLE their current consumption.
On a 3-2 vote, with Councilmen Runyon, Ortiz and Mayor Griego voting to APPROVE and Councilmen Munoz and Romero voting to DENY, the motion passed.

There is no “Los Lunas aquifer.”

The Albuquerque aquifer sustains all people and all living things in all of Valencia County, and in the entire Albuquerque Basin (from Cochiti to Socorro County).

In the middle of the desert,

in the middle of a PERMANENT water shortage,

OUR WATER is for PEOPLE,

not for PROFIT$.

WHAT CAN WE DO NOW?!

We are going to be planning demonstrations, outreach, and community gatherings to discuss the community’s concerns and get folks involved.

The best way to stay informed is to JOIN OUR EMAIL LIST, follow us on FaceBook and Instagram, and keep an eye on our YouTube.

The community’s involvement in this critical issue is paramount. By joining our planned demonstrations and gatherings, members of the community can effectively voice their concerns and contribute to the movement to address the allocation of water rights in the region. Our email list, along with our social media channels, will serve as vital sources of information to keep everyone updated on the latest developments and avenues for participation. Together, we can STAND UP to Niagara and find solutions for OUR WATER for OUR PEOPLE.
